DEMENTIA AWARENESS WEEK - 18TH - 24TH MAY 2026
This week is Dementia Awareness Week and we will continue to raise awareness of Dementia, the UK's biggest killer!
- Dementia affects us all and it devastates lives
- 1 in 3 people born in the UK today will go on to develop Dementia in their lifetime
- Every 3 minutes someone in the UK develops Dementia
The awareness campaign is led by the Alzheimer's Society, bringing Communities and organisations together to act on Dementia. The Alzheimer's Society is encouraging everyone to join the "Forget Me Not Appeal" badge. Behind each badge represents someone's story of a life devastated by Dementia.
Alzheimer's Society offers a Dementia Support line: 0333 150 3456, which incorporates a range of support services for those living with Dementia and those people caring for their loved ones with Dementia.
From a listening ear, to a visit in person, the Alzheimer's Society has this range of support services to offer to those affected, including a symptoms checklist, Legal and Financial services and help with Dementia care. You can also sign up to their website: www.alzheimers.org.uk
Alzheimer's Society would also like you to share your stories about Dementia and how it's affected you or your loved ones, and you can share this with them via their website.
